The diversity of the Western New York Southtowns Scenic Byway (WNYSSB) captures the essence of the culture and history of the Lake Erie region of New York State. The area offers an array of recreational opportunities for all seasons. The WNYSSB is "The Official Sponsor of the Four Seasons". Visiting advantages include skiing and snowboarding in the winter, biking, hiking, fine dining, shopping and photography in all seasons. The Western New York Southtowns has a rich history, from the original Native American groups in the area to its settlement by the Quakers and other groups to the cultural and commercial influence of "lake effect" weather. The byway provides access to bucolic Towns and Villages, major Erie County Parks, a myriad of natural, historical and scenic wonders, and routes to the awe-inspiring views of the Zoar Valley State Multiple Use Area.
