Hells Canyon Scenic Byway
Snake River, OR
The Snake River drains vast areas of Idaho, Washington and Oregon and carved Hells Canyon, the deepest fresh water canyon in the world. The roadless Wild and Scenic segment below the dams is popular for rafting and jet boats, as well as a destination for hiking and horse-packing. The Snake provides the water for the Idaho Power Snake River Dams complex (Brownlee, Oxbow, and Hells Canyon Dams). Oxbow Dam and the Oxbow fish hatchery are visible from this point. The reservoirs are used by power boaters and fishermen.
