Special Considerations
From Plush:
- Take paved County Road 3-10 north for 9 miles (it turns to gravel after 4 miles).
- Turn right on County Road 3-11, go approximately ½ mile, then turn left on BLM Road 6155.
- Travel north 8 miles, then turn left on BLM Road 6115.
- Drive northwest approximately 5 miles, then turn right at the signed entrance, onto BLM Road 6195.
For southbound travelers from Highway 395:
- Turn left (east) on County Road 3-10 (also called the Hogback Road).
- After 7 miles, turn left on BLM Road 6165 (the Corn Lake Road).
- Travel northwest for 8 miles, then turn right on BLM Road 6115.
- The Sunstone Collection Area is another 7 miles east on this road. Turn left at the signed entrance, onto BLM Road 6195.
BLM Roads 6165 and 6115 can be impassable to even four-wheel-drive vehicles when wet, and should only be used during dry conditions. BLM Road 6165 is also rocky, and those in low-clearance passenger cars may not want to attempt this road.
An alternate route for southbound travelers from Highway 395 is to continue south on the Hogback Road, turn left at the junction with County Road 3-11, and continue from this junction as described in the directions "From Plush"
Restrictions
