The Texas Brazos Trail spans 18 counties in central Texas. Starting up north, the Brazos Trail spans from notable towns, including Waco, down west to Georgetown and to College Station in the east. Throughout the entire region, find picturesque downtown towns, historic buildings, and historic history mingling with current times.

During the Frontier times, many European settlers moved to this rural areal to blend cultures that are still alive today in local festivals and architecture. If you prefer historical sites, find any number of heritage museums and gorgeous churches reminiscent of Texas’ beautiful history. Find remnants of railroads with museums dotting the region as they brought cotton and industrial materials to help the area survive.

Notable destinations include Elgin to see the railroad’s bricks and sausage planning to stay during one of their Western Days. Visit Smithville to visit the scenery used in several movies with tree-lined streets and a restored caboose. Try out kolaches and other Czech specialties with a festival in Caldwell. Tour Texas’s beloved A&M college in College Station.

Waco has made a name for itself thanks to designers Chip and Joanna Gaines. Start at their shop by the Silos and explore the rest of the town for fantastic antique finds and impressive architecture, including a scenic bridge over the Brazos River. Take a few hours to visit the Waco Mammoth National Monument, Cameron Park Zoo, and Texas Ranger Museum.

Follow the river to other towns leading southeast. Sample Texas’s victorian past in Calvert with many specialty shops and an opera house nestled between Italian and Colonial Revival buildings. Drop a dime in the town of Dime Box and check out the old post office for artifacts left by others. Fill up on peaches in Fairfield, then stop by to see two log cabins to see life through the eyes of a typical pioneer.

Experience Brazos Trails through taste to enjoying rich barbecue and kolaches with tons of options for mom and pop restaurants. If you have never had a giant kolache, it’s time to try these bread-wrapped sausages for a light snack or even breakfast. Enjoy tons of options for Dr. Pepper, the Texas official soda, too, including floats and even museums! Take an RV to explore the area stay at the Brazos Trail RV Park for convenience.

With a theme of promoting historic preservation and economic development, The Brazos Trail area is ready to greet guests and find many cultural ways of entertaining yourselves for days or even weeks. While many areas of Texas offer rich history and beauty, none are quite as nice as Brazos trails with a focus on European culture and railroads. Find tons of natural state parks, too, and enjoy Texas history at its finest, and do not forget the Brazos river!
