Scenic Byway 12
Tropic Reservoir/East Fork of the Sevier River, UT
From Red Canyon, Scenic Byway 12 climbs to the top of the Paunsaugunt Plateau. The area offers spectacular wildlife viewing. In addition to wildlife watching, scenic areas adjacent to Scenic Byway 12 offer other activities like photography, fishing, camping, hiking, mountain biking, skiing and snow-mobiling. Numerous Forest Service roads offer excellent opportunities for mountain biking, hiking and four-wheel driving.
The Tropic Reservoir is located 7 miles south of Scenic Byway 12. The lake is popular for fishing, picnicking, and camping. The Great Western Trail is accessible from the scenic backway with hiking opportunities.
