Sakakawea And Sitting Bull Monuments, SD
The Sakakawea Monument is a tall obelisk with a sign nearby that explains some of the noteworthy events in her life. Records indicate that she died at Fort Manuel on what is now the Standing Rock Reservation in 1812. The Sitting Bull Monument is an attractive red granite obelisk topped with a bust of Sitting Bull. The site has a magnificent view of Lake Oahe and the surrounding country.
