Great River Road
Genoa, WI
In 1854, this village of 266 residents, was a settlement of Italian and Italian speaking Swiss immigrants relocated from the lumbering and lead-mining community of Galena, Illinois.
Now Genoa is a perfect place to enjoy the Mississippi River. Stop at Lock and Dam No. 8 and watch the river traffic or do some fishing from a barge. You may want to find out where many fish come from at the Genoa national fish hatchery. Or stop at Old Setter's Overlook south of the village to get an excellent view of the bluffs.
