Minnesota River Valley Scenic Byway
Gustavus Adolphus College Arboretum & Sculpture Garden, MN

This private liberal arts college with Swedish and Lutheran heritage overlooks the city of St. Peter and Minnesota River Valley from its west bank location. Christ Chapel with its soaring spire is the focal point of the campus.

Walk the Gustavus Adolphus College campus art tour of its Granlund Sculpture Garden. The 30 or more bronze sculptures you will see are the inspired work of Paul T. Granlund, Sculptor-in-Residence.

Or, enjoy the 55-acre tract of land comprising the Linnaeus Arboretum, named for Carolus Linnaeus (1707-1778), a Swedish botanist who shortened long Latin descriptive plant names to two names, genus and species, for each plant. Pathways lead to conifer and deciduous groves, prairie grasses and wild flowers, an herb garden, and a pioneer cabin. A rose garden and formal perennial beds surround the Melva Lind Interpretive Center.
