At this point, the Pacific Crest National Trail can be accessed for a bit of hiking. The byway also will offer excellent fishing and boating in the numerous lakes along its path. Looming nearby is Mt. Rainier. The byway passes closely to the southern most tip of Mt. Rainier National Park and gives you a glimpse of the beautiful dormant volcano and its fantastic surroundings.
