Kenai National Wildlife Refuge, AK
The Kenai National Wildlife Refuge is comprised of 1.92 million acres and is only accessed by the North Sterling Byway. The refuge provides outstanding opportunities to see wildlife, unique landforms, and vegetation, and to recreate in a beautiful pristine natural environment. The Kenai National Wildlife Refuge’s wealth of habitat, scenery and wildlife draws over a half a million visitors a year, more than any other refuge in Alaska.

- Hours of Operation:
- The refuge is open year-round. Some of the refuge facilities including campgrounds and visitor centers are only open from mid-May to the end of Sept.
- Location:
The Sterling Highway runs through the refuge between milepost 55.0 and 75.3. Several refuge roads including Skilak Lake Road intersect the byway and provide additional access into the refuge.
