A Traveler's Experience
Tenderfoot on April 27, 2004 (traveled on March 11, 2004)A1A Scenic & Historic Coastal Byway (FL)
I had the best time on the old A1A Scenic and Historic Byway. There's a lot of that Old Florida culture along this road. Highlights of my recent trip included a visit to the Marineland Oceanarium, lunch on the beach at Anastasia State Park, and a malt-and-fries dinner at the old Woolworth's lunch counter on Kings Street in St. Augustine. St. Augustine also has the nation's Oldest Drugstore, the Oldest House, and the famous Castillo de San Marcos, as well as a very charming and aromatic pedestrian mall on St. George Street. Be prepared for irresistible fudge and homemade ice cream!
