A Traveler's Experience

In spring of 2001, I visited the Eloise Butler Wildflower Gardens on the Grand Rounds Scenic Byway in Minneapolis, Minnesota. We happened to be there just at the right time to see all KINDS of wildflowers. I went a little wild with the camera, because not many of the wildflowers I saw there grow in my part of the country. Lady's slippers, jack-n-the-pulpits, shooting stars, trilliums, and so many more! And even though we do have columbines, they are one of my favorite wildflowers, so I was delighted to see them too! Everything was so WET and GREEN and LUSH!
There were birds everywhere, too. It is a bird sanctuary as well as a wildflower garden, after all. One cheeky fellow on a meadow trail was on one of the trees by the path, and when I tried to sneak up to get a good look at him, he kept shifting around so I couldn't see him. He didn't fly away, he just hopped from branch to branch.

If you're looking for a great time I recommend the Grand Rounds Scenic Byway, it's a really nice place. I found everything to be just amazing and beautiful.

It seems to be the playground of the city, with beautiful views and lots of great people-watching! Another remarkable area is the Mill Ruins Park in downtown.
