The Beartooth Highway was reminiscent of the Troll highway in Norway we visited last summer, but higher and better because as my 16 year old said, "It's in the USA!"
White knuckle driving once through the Shoshone National Forest and climbing up you end up at the same altitude as the snow capped mountains all around you. Spectacular views, awesome sights. Highly recommended route to Yellowstone.

Last summer we camped for five days at one of the gorgeous National Forest campgrounds south of Red Lodge and drove up the switchbacks nearly every day to hike and hang out above treeline. Gorgeous!
