9brier on August 13, 2009 (traveled on July 13, 2009)This was our first trip to the USA, we live in Scotland, UK. We did a circular route starting from Las Vegas driving south, through Grand Canyon, Page, Mounument Valley, Arches NP, and through Capitol Reef NP, and we thought this Scenic Byway 12 totally awesome. It... [more]
gag3 on December 1, 2008 (traveled on November 29, 2008)The most exhilarating ride ever. On my motorcycle, I used Scenic Byway 12 to gain access to the National Parks in southern Utah.
I don't have words to describe the beauty of the stretch from Bryce Canyon National Park north to Highway 24. It was like an alien... [more]
angel on September 12, 2007 (traveled on September 9, 2007)We had a great time hiking down into the depths of Bryce Canyon on a sunny September morning. The view looking down there was daunting, as were the red faces and panting breaths of the people passing us going up the switchbacks as we went down. But the work was... [more]
CastellanosML on August 15, 2007 (traveled on June 29, 2007)My husband and I rode Highway 12 during a 17-day motorcycle adventure across the United States. Around every bend was a new experience. jimh on March 9, 2005 (traveled on September 13, 2004)We have traveled this road several times south to north and north to south. The Hogsback the first time was a real white knuckle experience. Burr Trail Road out of Boulder is a must. The first several miles through Long Canyon is beautiful. We will do this route again and expect new experiences. Great route.
swc on October 3, 2004 (traveled on September 25, 2004)Cycling may not be the recommended way of traveling SR-12, but it is an absolutely unforgettable experience. Last Saturday, I had the chance to bike from the town of Boulder to an overlook on the other side of the Escalante River. It was a relatively quiet,... [more]
gw on January 30, 2004 (traveled on March 28, 2002)Great drive from Bryce Canyon heading North. Stayed the night at Capitol Reef NP, forget the name of the little motel on the right as you leave Torrey for Green River, but it had a great restaurant.
Have to appreciate the workskills and effort required to build the... [more]
angel on August 13, 2003It was really windy when we crossed the Hogsback in the van this time. With the wind, those hundreds-of-feet drops on both sides of the road made for incredible but nerve-wracking views!
