May 10, 2008 - Travel Industry Assn Exec. Welcomes You To National Tourism Week
Excerpts from a letter to TIA members from Roger Dow, TIA President and CEO:
Tomorrow marks the start of the silver anniversary of National Tourism Week, our industry’s commemorative event that runs through May 18th. I join you in saluting the incredible benefits that travel and tourism creates within our communities and for our businesses.
On the 25th year of the establishment of [National Tourism Week], I turned to the words that President Ronald Reagan shared when he signed the first Proclamation for National Tourism Week during a White House ceremony. “I think the importance of travel and tourism goes far beyond economics,” the President said. “Experiencing America firsthand provides outstanding educational opportunities and is terrific for personal growth. And where in the world is there a more beautiful place to travel, have fun, and relax than in America?” Click here to read President Reagan’s full remarks.
This year’s theme, Discover Great American Traditions, has been met with much enthusiasm throughout the industry. It underscores the fact that travel is at the heart of vivid memories of time spent with family and friends.
I wish all of your National Tourism Week activities great success.
Sincerely,
Roger Dow’s Signature
