May 8, 2008 - National Tourism Week Celebrates Children’s Day
LAKE CHARLES, La. – During National Tourism Week, May 10-18, the Southwest Louisiana Convention & Visitors Bureau will celebrate Children’s Day on Saturday, May 10, at the welcome center, 1205 N. Lakeshore Drive.
Children’s Day is a showcase of all the fun things for families to do and see in Southwest Louisiana. Children and their parents are invited to the welcome center from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. for a variety of games, face painting, exhibits and more. Heckhaven Wildlife Rehabilitation Center will have a booth at the fair exhibiting some of their rescued animals. The City of Lake Charles will have a moonwalk outside along with bowling and Putt Putt billiard, Putt Putt hole in one games and face painting and a pirate chess game inside. The Calcasieu Parish Public Library will have story time on the back patio.
Children’s Day also goes hand in hand with celebrating the Creole Nature Trail All-American Road, saluting the wonderful scenic drive and unusual flora and fauna found along the trail. Representatives from the Creole Nature Trail All-American Road, Cameron Prairie and Sabine National Wildlife Refuges will be at the bureau to answer all of your questions.
