April 24, 2008 - Visit Lake Erie Shipwrecks Through the New Website

Scuba divers and anyone interested in Lake Erie history and shipwrecks can check out wreck sites, courtesy of the Ohio Sea Grant, which funded the interactive website Shipwrecks and Maritime Tales of the Lake Erie Coastal Ohio Trail .

The site maps the locations of 277 known wrecks, and offers detailed information on 28 specific wrecks, including ship history, photos and, in some cases, video footage of the actual wrecks. For those interested in diving, GPS coordinates are included.

The project is linked to the Lake Erie Coastal Ohio Trail, a National Scenic Byway from Conneaut to Toledo.
