December 30, 2008 - Seward Highway Holds New Year's Eve Torchlight Parade on Mt. Alyeska

On December 31st at 8:00 pm, the annual New Year’s Eve Torchlight Parade will begin at Mt. Alyeska at the Alyeska Resort in Girdwood, just off the Seward Highway in Alaska.

All of the lights on the mountain are turned off as skiers and snowboarders go down the slopes with torches attached to bamboo poles, lighting up the mountain with a red glow. One of the biggest firework displays in Alaska will be shown immediately following this spectacular parade.
