Dinosaur Diamond Prehistoric Highway covers the country's most exciting dinosaur sites. Many public places feature bones and tracks visible in the ground, and several museums add exciting insight and information about dinosaurs. Although dinosaurs are central to the byway, nature relies on resources nearby. Ouray National Wildlife Refuge, which is located about 15 miles from the byway, attracts thousands of waterfowl and other birds to the desert area. Though the landscape is typically dry, the Green River brings water from Wyoming mountains and channels it through the Refuge.
