The limestone bluffs of Historic Bluff Country Scenic Byway provide grand views as they contrast against the prairie aboveground, and are part of the system that created fantastic caves below. Visitors can enjoy viewing the area through a number of ways, be it by car or horse, bike or rollerblade. Not only does the geology provide unique views, it also creates an ideal place for wildlife thanks to the Mississippi River. The multi-state Upper Mississippi River National Wildlife Refuge illustrates this point, supporting many species of birds, including a respectable population of bald eagles, tundra swans, and canvasback ducks.
