Named for what has become Montana’s most noted feature, the Big Sky Back Country Byway runs through the state’s eastern region. Here you’ll encounter prairie, farms, grasslands, and badlands along the byway’s 105 miles. The route lies on paved highways complete with kiosks describing byway attributes and local history at several points along the way.
With the Missouri River and Wolf Point at the byway’s northern end and the Yellowstone River and Terry at the southern end, this byway’s not a bad choice for filling your recreational hours. You can fish, hunt, hike, and sightsee from one end of the Big Sky Back Country byway to the other all under that famous Montana sky.
