The relatively flat terrain makes exploring by bicycle very easy, but you will need to be aware of large vehicles such as rafting company busses and RV’s, especially during the summer months.

Special Considerations

The Lower Deschutes River Back Country Byway is a Type I byway. Vehicles with a seating capacity greater than 24 passengers and one driver and/or a total length greater than 28 feet are not allowed on this byway. This byway is open year-round but may have unexpected closures due to snow or mud. Check the BLM Prineville District Office.
