Crowley's Ridge Parkway
Wapanocca National Wildlife Refuge, AR

This huge wetlands area includes forested portions and some farmland, along with the 600-acre Wapanocca Lake. The area is great for birdwatching, along with hunting and fishing for panfish and bass. The refuge is managed for migrating and wintering waterfowl and for nesting bottomland forest birds. Mississippi Kites may be seen in spring and summer over the treetops, and late summer often will bring numbers of long-legged wading birds. There is a driving trail that provides a glimpse of what the Arkansas Delta was like in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
