Route 1 - San Luis Obispo North Coast Byway
Piedras Blancas Lighthouse, CA

The Piedras Blancas Lighthouse was built in 1874 and first operated in 1875. The landmark, still in operation today, remains a prominent landmark for travelers on the highway. Its location is the halfway point between the lighthouses at Point Conception in the south and Pigeon Point in the north. In 1949, the Coast Guard removed the lamphouse and Fresnel lens.
