Road Trips:

Discover 18th and 19th century life firsthand by taking part in living history programs happening throughout spring on the Delaware River Scenic Byway. Begin at the Old Barracks Museum to experience life in colonial times. Afterward, choose a local eatery or grab a pre-packed a lunch and head 8 miles north on the byway for a riverside picnic at Washington Crossing State Park. After lunch travel 3½ miles north on the byway to Howell Living Farm where you can experience firsthand farming techniques of the 1900s. Rejoin the byway and head north to the Stockton area where restaurants and overnight accommodations range from first-class lodging to family campgrounds. Wake up refreshed and ready for a tour of the Holcombe Jimison farm. Afterward, stroll 1 mile south along the D&R Canal recreational path to Lambertville to see the only remaining commercial shad fishery haul in their catch the same way it has been done for more than 100 years.
