Anaho Island, located in Pyramid Lake, is one of the only pelican nesting sites in North America.
Directions: Located inside Pyramid Lake in the southeast end.

Anaho Island National Wildlife Refuge (NV)President Woodrow Wilson established this refuge in 1913 as a sanctuary for colonial nesting birds, primarily American white pelicans. The refuge is situated on Anaho Island within the 25-mile Pyramid Lake.

California National Historic Trail (NV)Thousands of gold-seekers and farmers followed the California National Historic Trail in the 1800s, to the promise of a better life.
Location on Byway: The California National Historic Trail runs along the east side of Pyramid Lake.

Visit the historic capital city of Nevada.
Directions: South of the byway off US Highway 395.

Dayton State Park marks the site of one of Nevada`s first permanent settlements. The Carson River flows through the park.
Directions: Located in the town of Dayton.

Fallon National Wildlife Refuge (NV)
Fallon NWR was established in 1931 as a refuge and breeding ground for birds and wild animals.
Directions: Located at the southern terminus of the Carson River.

In 1860, two battles occured between the white settlers and the Paiute Indians at Pyramid Lake.

Lahontan State Recreation Area (NV)
The Lahontan State Recreation Area surrounds a 17-mile long man-made lake with more than 69 miles of sandy shoreline.
Directions: Located some 20 minutes west of Fallon.

Marble Bluff Fish Passage Facility (NV)
The Marble Bluff Fish Passage Facility is part of the Lahontan National Fish Hatchery Complex and consists of four major components: Marble Bluff Dam, fish lock, fishway and fish handling building.

Nixon is the location of the Pyramid Lake Tribal Museum.
Location on Byway: Located at the south end of Pyramid Lake off of SR 446 and 447.
