Seasons

High Season

Highest visitation is in July and August. It can be difficult to find a campsite at popular campgrounds on summer Saturdays.

Off Season

Kings Canyon Scenic Byway follows a route from about 2, 000 feet elevation to 6,000 feet elevation. This means it can be snow covered for part of the winter. The portion just past the Hume Lake turnoff that descends into the canyon itself is closed in winter.
