Big Branch Marsh National Wildlife Refuge, LA

Big Branch Marsh National Wildlife Refuge was established in October 1994, and is comprised of 18,000 acres of pine flatwoods, oak ridges, fresh, brackish, and saltwater marsh. It is a diverse habitat for many wildlife species, including the Red-cockaded Woodpecker, the Brown Pelican, the American alligator, the Bald Eagle, rabbits, turkeys, neo-tropical birds, deer, squirrels, migratory waterfowl, ospreys and other raptors, and wading birds.
