Great River Road
Two Rivers National Wildlife Refuge, IL
Part of the Mark Twain refuge complex, Twin Rivers has had more than 200 different species of birds funnel through this important river juncture on their fall migration including over 5,000,000 ducks and 50,000 geese. The largest number of bald eagles will gather from late October through freeze-up.

- Refuge Headquarters: Open 7:30 am to 4 pm, Monday-Friday. Visitor Center: Open 8 am to 4 pm, Monday-Friday. Overlook open during daylight hours.
- Location:
Two Rivers NWR is located near the confluence of the Mississippi and Illinois Rivers. The refuge is comprised of five divisions: Apple Creek, Batchtown, Calhoun, Gilbert Lake, and Portage Island. Travel 14 miles west of Alton, Illinois, on the Great River Road (Hwy 100) to the Brussels Ferry. Cross the Illinois River and proceed another 4.5 miles to the refuge entrance.
