Visitors are encouraged to explore Buffalo shores, Clarks Ferry, Wild Cat Den State Park, Shady Creek, Fairport Campsite, and Weed Park. Mark Twain Lookout offers a fine view of the River and towboat activity. A drive up "West Hill" will take travelers to an area of Muscatine that features historic homes. Because Muscatine is located in a place where the Mississippi River bends, clam shells were easily found in the area where they collected. In Muscatine, button making flourished and now the city has the only Pearl Button Museum in the world.
