Columbia River Gorge Scenic Byway - Washington
Columbia Gorge Interpretive Center, WA

The Interpretive Center offers exhibits about the area's cultural and natural history. More than 11,000 square feet of exhibitions are supplemented by audiovisual presentations. These presentations discuss the events that shaped Skamania County, Washington, Oregon, and the Columbia River Gorge. The exhibits themselves also highlight the cultural diversity of Gorge inhabitants from Native Americans to Japanese, Chinese, and other nationalities. Visitors can also view Lewis and Clark-related exhibits such as where Lewis and Clark had to find a way around the torrential Cascade Rapids.

Wander through three floors of exhibits, as well as an open-air exhibit. The highlights of the open-air exhibit are the diesel locomotive and caboose. They are currently being restored and will be the center of a new exhibit detailing the role of railroads in the Gorge over the last century and a half.
