Stevens Pass Greenway
Adventures along Stevens Pass Greenway

Stevens Pass Greenway takes you on a leisurely drive through a modern high mountain pass that includes old-growth forests, historical towns, quaint villages, a nationally known ski resort, and numerous hiking, climbing and camping sites. Travel through areas diverse and rich in beauty, verdant and green, from the saltwater port of Everett, through the grandeur of the Cascade Mountains, to the sunny fields and orchards of Wenatchee.

The Cascade Mountain Range awaits you with its many rivers, cross country trails, and wildlife, including bald eagles, deer, hawks, and salmon. Take a break from driving and explore some of the numerous trails, such as the Iron Goat Trail, which starts at a 100-year-old tunnel. Walk along to Wallace Falls and the fruit orchards, and sample fresh fruit from one of the many stands lining the byway.

While in the area, don't forget to stop in Leavenworth. You'll think you've crossed the Atlantic and landed in a Bavarian Village. The charm of the Alps, with its wooden facades and mountain vistas, greets you right here in Washington. Stay for one of the many festivals, such as Maifest where you can see the Tirolean and Edelweiss Dancers and stroll through the Bavarian Village of Flowers. Or drop by for some incredible year-round shopping. Whenever you visit, Leavenworth says, "Willkommen."

Originally developed for the Old Great Northern Railway, the byway is rich in rail history and is considered a major corridor for rail freight mobility. One of Washington's two year-round accessible mountain passes, the byway invites you to travel any time of year. Whether in the blossoms of spring or amidst fall foliage, take a captivating journey on the Stevens Pass Greenway and wind through stunning mountain passes, wild clear rivers, spacious valley floors, and deep shadowed forests.
