Chinook Scenic Byway
Crash-Testing Chinook Scenic Byway

There is no question that Chinook Scenic Byway is absolutely breathtaking, but you’ll find further proof by daring to take on some of the area's famed bike trails.

First, head to Skookum Flats. This is a popular ride for skilled bikers - and for good reason. Despite the name, the terrain is anything but flat. The beautiful old growth forest, rushing White River, and varied terrain make it a favorite ride for experienced bikers, and it is easily accessible from the town of Enumclaw. If testing your suspension on the bumpy trail surface, jumping over fallen trees, and avoiding obstacles with the grace of a pro sound like your forte, Skookum Flats is a trail you won’t want to miss.

If you are interested in a longer ride, head to Little Bald Mountain. Near Cliffdell, this 29.8-mile loop has it all! The beginning miles of the trail are not for the weak. The demanding climb requires serious endurance, but the beautiful surroundings make the ride well worth it. You will then plunge downhill past rock gardens, cliff line views, and alpine forests. Nature-lovers will want to stop at overlooks along the trail, which present awe-inspiring views of the Chinook region.
