Driving the Byway

From Sackets Harbor, follow Route 3 eastward, passing through Watertown, Natural Bridge, and Fine, where Route 3 enters the Adirondack Park. In the Adirondack Park, continue along Route 3 through the villages of Star Lake, Cranberry Lake, and Tupper Lake. Continue straight through the village of Saranac Lake, and Route 3 will change to Route 86. Continue towards the city of Lake Placid, home of both the 1932 and 1980 Olympic Games.

From Lake Placid, Continue along Route 86 until you reach the community of Jay. In Jay, turn left onto Route 9N and continue northward. Follow Route 9N to the terminus of the Olympic Trail in Keeseville.
