Lassen Scenic Byway
Lassen Scenic Byway Overview

Winding through both Lassen National Forest and Lassen Volcanic National Park, the Lassen Scenic Byway is one of the most scenic drives in California. The 185-mile long loop can be traveled in only a day, but it's best to take the time to appreciate its beauty and diversity by making frequent stops to hike, take photos, fish, camp, and just enjoy the fascinating nature that will surround you.

Make a stop at the Old Station Visitor Center for friendly suggestions to plan your visit, or simply begin the trip on your own by exploring your options. If hiking is your forte, don't miss the Spatter Cone Crest Trail. Check out actual volcanoes from this astounding vantage point! Or give the Bizz Johnson National Recreation Trail, a 25-mile former railroad line, a try. Hike, bike, or ride horses along the scenic route.
