Driving the Byway

Take the North Yreka exit off I-5 to Hwy 263. Go North to the Klamath River. Proceed along Hwy 96 West to Happy Camp. Go North, up Indian Creek Rd. to Hwy 199 just West of Cave Jct., Oregon.

From 101 North of Eureka, take Hwy 299 to Willow Creek, and then Hwy 96 through the Hoopa reservation to Happy Camp. This route is stunning but can be closed temporarily due to rockslides. It also adds 2.5 hours to the trip.
