Driving the Byway

The byway is located in the western section of the state. It travels through the counties of Guthrie, Audubon, Shelby, and Harrison.

Driving the Byway

  • The eastern end of the route begins in the community of Stuart in Guthrie County.
  • From Stuart, travel north on County Road P28.
  • At the community of Panora, the byway turns onto SR 44.
  • The byway travels along a ridge top through Guthrie Center and Hamlin.
  • At the community of Kimbalton take a quick side trip through Elk Horn on SR 173.
  • Turn around and continue on SR 44.
  • Follow the signs as they direct travelers past Jacksonville to Harlan.
  • At the city of Harlan, the route branches into a loop.
  • Taking the northern portion of the loop on Highway 59, turn onto County Road F-32.
  • Travel on F-32 through Westphalia, Panama, and Woodbine.
  • Follow F-32 south to the community of Logan or to the south part of the loop on SR 44. Taking SR 44, travel east, passing Portsmouth and returning to Harlan. Continuing on F-32 drive to the community of Logan.
  • From Logan, travel to the end of the byway on Highway 30. The Loess Hills can be seen from Missouri Valley at the end of the byway.
