Driving the Byway

The Grant Wood Scenic Byway runs through two eastern Iowa counties to the Mississippi River. The byway splits to include both a northerly and southerly route but connects at Andrew on one side and Maquoketa on the other.

Driving the Byway

  • Beginning in Anamosa, travel State Road 64 past the communities of Wyoming, Monmouth, and Baldwin.
  • From Baldwin, continue on SR 64 until the route splits into a northerly and southerly section.
  • Northerly Section
  • From the intersection of SR 64 and SR 428, turn left onto 428.
  • Continue on SR 428 until County Road E17 appears.
  • Stay on E17 and pass the community of Andrew where the route rejoins.

  • Southerly Section
  • From the intersection of SR 64 and SR 62, turn right onto SR 62.
  • Continue on SR 62 until the community of Andrew where the route rejoins.

  • Finishing the Byway
  • Following E17, drivers will reach Springbrook.
  • From Springbrook, turn onto County Road Z15 and continue to Bellevue where the byway ends.
