Caballo Lake State Park, NM

A man-made lake at the foot of the Caballo Mountains, Caballo Lake provides fishing, boating, camping, and other recreational opportunities year-round. Bald eagles may be sighted in the foothills at the base of the Caballo Mountains.

There are two campgrounds, one overlooking Caballo Lake and one along the bank of the Rio Grande. A third camping area, Percha State Park, is adjacent and administered by the Caballo Lake State Park office. It is a cool, shady river-side area that is also very popular.
