Taidnapam Park offers all the things that make camping fun--a beautiful natural setting, boating and fishing on Riffe Lake, and a few comforts of home. Or, you can just relax for the afternoon watching for Bald Eagles and osprey overhead. Be on the lookout for native plants such as Oregon grape, salal, red flowering currant and sword fern. The wheelchair-accessible fishing bridge is a unique location for youngsters to catch their first fish.

Running next to the White Pass Scenic Byway for 20 miles from just beyond White Pass to the Oak Creek Wildlife Area, the sparkling Tieton River is bordered by campgrounds and fishing access points along its length. In the fall, releases from the Rimrock dam create some of the best whitewater rafting in Washington State. Whatever the time of year, the river provides important habitat in the arid eastern Cascades environment, creating opportunities for wildlife watching.
Directions: The Tieton River parallels the byway from the junction with SR 410 to Rimrock Lake.

A major winter ski destination, White Pass also offers some hiking in the summer and is a pleasant stop along the roadway in a high mountain environment. The driest powder in the Washington Cascades, White Pass has a 6,000-foot summit and a 1,500-foot vertical drop. It averages over 300 inches of snow each year. In addition to downhill skiing, White Pass offers cross-country tracks, snowshoeing routes, and extensive backcountry ski terrain.
Directions: White Pass Ski Area is just before White Pass on the byway going east.
