Driving the Byway
From Selma to Montgomery (All-American Designation)
- Begin at the First Baptist Trail site at the corner of ML King
Jr. Street and Jeff Davis Avenue.
- To tour this area, take city streets southeast past many points
of interest in Selma.
- Cross Edmund Pettus Bridge at Broad St. and Water Avenue, the
site of Bloody Sunday (March 7, 1965).
- Continue south onto Hwy. 80. You will pass through Benton,
Petronia, Lowndesboro, Mt. Sinai, and other towns on the 43-mile
journey to the State Capitol Building in Montgomery, Alabama.
From Montgomery to Selma
- Begin at the State Capitol Building at the corner of Washington
Avenue and McDonough Street in Montgomery.
- Bear left on Court Street.
- Turn right to take the ramp onto I-85 South.
- Take the MOBILE Left exit onto I-65 South.
- Take Exit 167/Selma onto US-80 West.
- Continue on US Highway 80 East.
- Continue on Broad Street(AL-22) to arrive in Selma.
