Special Considerations

Idaho 200 is a two-lane road with no passing lanes. It can be icy during winter months, so drive with caution. Also remember that the Pend Oreille Scenic Byway and most of northern Idaho is in the Pacific Time Zone.

The deciduous trees along the byway give way to spectacular fall colors. Hunting, archery, and bird watching are some activities visitors can enjoy.

Springtime brings a record number of trout to the byway. There are many activities at this time, including a fishing derby.

Summer

Pend Oreille Lake offers many activities during the summertime. Fishing, hiking, biking, and community celebrations, such as the 4th of July celebration are just some of the things to do.

Winter

During the wintertime, the byway can be enjoyed by going skiing, snowmobiling, and snowshoeing.
