Flaming Gorge-Uintas National Scenic Byway
Red Canyon Visitor Center (Flaming Gorge), UT
The Red Canyon Visitor Center seems precariously perched atop the flaming cliffs of the gorge. However, this impressive stucture provides a stable space for travelers to rest and learn more about the Flaming Gorge.
Park the car and stretch your legs on the pathways that wind around the visitor center. Keep a look out for informational plaques that tell more about the wildlife and the types of plants native to this area. Although, you won't just need plaques to tell you about your surroundings because the adventures are all around.
The large windows of the visitor center favor the visitors with impressive views of the gorge. There are also fenced platforms outside that will allow a more up-close and personal look at the scenery.
Inside the visitor center, get a feel for the life of a mountain man by observing the replica of a full-costumed man surrounded by a bear, a mountain lion, and a big horned sheep. The expert taxidermy work on these animals will allow you to venture up-close without fear.
