Logan Canyon Scenic Byway
Franklin Basin Area, UT
The road through Franklin Basin crosses the Utah-Idaho border and offers a worthwhile diversion from Logan Canyon's main corridor. This area is popular for snowmobiling, fishing, and horseback riding. Beaver communities favor Franklin Basin for its many wandering waterways.
Nearby is the Steam Mill Hollow Trail, named for the steam-driven logging mill that processed timber during the 1890s. This trail is one of the best ways to access the Naomi Peak Wilderness.
A groomed snowmobile trail running from Hardware Ranch north into Utah passes through this area. Since part of this area is private land, public users should use the region's facilities with courtesy.
