Driving the Byway

On the northern end of the byway, the route starts in historic Portsmouth. From here, you can either swing directly east for a short side loop on Route 1B or continue south on Route 1A. In any case, 1A and 1B reconvene at the city of Rye.

The route continues south along the coast for about 15 miles and ends just past the city of Seabrook Beach. Specifically, it ends when it hits route 286.
