  • Ashley National Forest-Duchesne Ranger Station (UT)

    There are an abundance of recreational opportunities awaiting the visitor to the Ashley National Forest-Duchesne Ranger Station.

  • College of Eastern Utah Prehistoric Museum (UT)

    This university-operated museum has world-class exhibits including the Utahraptor Dinosaur and (one of their own discoveries) the Gastonia burgei. The Hall of Archeology displays the Columbian Mammoth and information about the prehistoric cultures of Utah.

    Directions: From the south end of Nine Mile Canyon, turn right onto Highway 6/191. Take this highway about 7 miles into Price.

  • Cottonwood Canyon Sites (UT)

    Walk up and see the remains of a Fremont village on a ridge above the road, or farther down the road see the famous 'hunting scene' petroglyph panel.

    Location on Byway: About 44 miles from Wellington, turn onto Cottonwood Canyon road to the right.

  • Duchesne (UT)

    Located near the petroglyphs in Nine Mile Canyon, Duchesne provides many recreational opportunities and visitor services.

    Directions: The north end of Nine Mile Canyon exists onto Highway 40/191. Take this highway west to end up in Duchesne.

  • Helper National Historic District (UT)

    Explore the historic district and mining heritage of Helper.

    Directions: From the south end of Nine Mile Canyon, turn right onto Highway 6/191. Helper is about 14 miles along the highway.

  • Price (UT)

    Price offers a closer look at archaeology in the area as well as many visitor services.

    Directions: From the south end of Nine Mile Canyon, turn right onto Highway 6/191. Follow this highway in a northwestern direction for about 6 miles.

  • Wellington (UT)

    The road to Nine Mile Canyon is located just two miles east of Wellington.

    Directions: The south end of Nine Mile Canyon exits onto Highway 191, take Highway 191 right for about a mile to end up in Wellington.
