Driving the Byway
This byway consists of two sections-- one on NC 194 and one on NC 88. Altogether, the byway makes up about 35 miles.
Getting to the Byway
- US Highways 221, 321, and 421 all intersect with the byway.
Driving the Byway
- Begin the Byway in Boone, just off the Blue Ridge Parkway. The route officially begins at the intersection of NC 194 and US 421/221.
- NC 194 travels through the New River Valley and over the "Old Buffalo Trail" where buffalo herds once migrated.
- In Baldwin, this section of the byway ends at the intersection
of US 221 and NC 194.
- Continue toward West Jefferson and Jefferson on US 221 North.
- At the NC 16/88 intersection, the route continues. Travel on NC 88 to Laurel Springs.
- The bywya ends in Laurel Springs at the intersection of NC 18 and 88.
