    North Carolina's oldest state historic site featuring the structures from a past Native American culture.

    Location on Byway: Located at the northwest end of the byway on SR 1542.

  • Uwharrie National Forest (NC)

    One of the four National Forests in North Carolina, this forest surrounds the byway on both sides.

    Directions: Just north of the byway.

  • Wadesboro (NC)

    As the county seat, Wadesboro is one of the oldest settlements of the area.

    Directions: Located southwest of the byway on US Highway 74.
