Forest Heritage Scenic Byway
Looking Glass Falls, NC
This beautiful 30-foot wide waterfall near Looking Glass Rock drops unbroken more than 60 feet down a rock cliff. From the parking area, steps lead to an overlook and continue to the base of the falls. U.S. 276 passes the falls along the grade of a former logging railroad built by Louis Carr to haul timber to his sawmill in the town of Pisgah Forest. Today, much of U.S. 276 follows the route of the logging trains.
