Getting to the Byway
From Asheville:
Driving the Byway
- Travel southeast on U.S. 74A until you reach the town of Fairview.
Driving the Byway
- Beginning in the community of Fairview, the byway runs along U.S. 74A.
- As you travel the byway you may notice the peak of Little Pisgah Mountain to your left.
- Once you have passed the peak, you will begin a climb though Hickory Nut Gap.
- Once you've passed through the gap, Bearwallow Mountain can be seen to the right.
- The byway ends at Bat Cave where it intersects with the Black Mountain Rag Scenic Byway.
